The program promotes the generation of policies and regulations that encourage the regulation of human activities in the sea and the creation or strengthening of opportunities for public consensus-building in discussions regarding plans, policies and standards that regulate human activities in selected marine areas and generate social agreements for the ocean regulation process.
Nationally the Political Advocacy program generates tools and instruments to ensure the implementation of management plans through policies, laws or fundraising projects.
In matters of management, the program has been promoting and leading thematic roundtables for marine aquaculture and sport fishing with the fisheries authority, the Colombian Institute for Rural Development and the Congress of the Republic with contributions to the fisheries law.
It actively participates in the formulation of the National Fisheries Policy in partnership with the public entities and non-governmental organizations under the leadership of the Presidency of the Republic.
Finally, and in coordination with the Science and Communities program, it finances workshops for Best Fisheries Practices and Governance to formulate agreements for the implementation of management plans.
