In coordination with the various governments, MarViva has promoted decision-making and the strengthening of projects that promote the pursuit of the protection of marine resources, Marine Protected Areas and sustainable fishing in Costa Rica, Colombia and Panama.
MarViva works to promote Marine Spatial Planning by supporting the institutions responsible for issuing new regulations consistent with the conservation and sound management of marine resources.
To fulfill this purpose, the Foundation is dedicated to finding the mechanisms indicated for collaborating with each one of the countries where it operates, reaching agreements together that will benefit the users of the sea.
MarViva promotes the implementation of the regulations established by the governments for the protection of marine resources.
The Foundation constantly provides training programs and advises officials in charge of marine conservation and improvements.
As a non-governmental organization, MarViva is on several national commissions for the conservation and use of marine resources, as a foundation that specializes in marine issues.
Work is done on plans that promote decision-making for the use of marine resources by key actors including: users of resources and spaces, communities of influence, and civil society, associations.
Inter-institutional coordination and the strengthening of opportunities for dialogue among stakeholders to achieve Marine Spatial Planning, the main focus of the Foundation, requires considerable training; MarViva has driven this task for the benefit of all parties.
From the standpoint of law enforcement, MarViva is known for giving detailed follow up on complaints made to the authorities that control the Marine Protected Areas.
Similarly, it is responsible for giving training and advice to park rangers and coast guards, under the same objective of sound use of marine resources.
