Strategic Plan
On the basis of the experience of its professional staff, scientists and collaborators, and aware that the fate of the oceans and their ecosystems is a responsibility of all of society, MarViva has designed an integral, serious, transparent and innovative strategy of a regional nature for the protection and conservation of marine and coastal resources:

Strategic Plan 2008-2010 (PDF)
Integral, because it envisages the management of marine
resources as a task involving various players for the public
and private sectors in protection and production initiatives
aiming to achieve sustainable development in our oceans.
This task demands intense dedication of both a political
nature - to reinforce and establish new legal frameworks-
and in terms of communications to raise public awareness of
the situation.
Serious, because the professional teams in charge of putting the programmes and activities
into practice base their actions on solid scientific and technical knowledge on coastal-marine
ecosystems, the nature of Marine Protected Areas and the social and economic processes
affecting them.
Transparent, because MarViva applies transparent and equitable management practices with all
collaborators, partners, civil society, businesses and governments.
Innovative, because it promotes the sustainable use of resources and services offered by
Marine Protected Areas, supporting the development of economic alternatives that benefit
communities.
Regional, because the seas of the Tropical Eastern Pacific are linked by currents and migratory
routes that render their ecosystems highly interdependent.
