President of the VIVA Trust and the Fundacion Latinoamerica Posible. He was rector of INCAE Business School and director-founder of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development. He is a member of the Board of Directors of INCAE and the Institute of World Resources in Washington. Co-founder of the Costa Rican Digital Strategy project and member of the Competitiveness Commission of the Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce. Co-founder of the Central American Leadership Initiative and director of several international companies in the region.
He holds a doctorate from the Harvard Business School, a master's degree in business administration from INCAE and a degree in naval and mechanical engineering. He is the author of several books and dozens of articles and case studies on sustainable development, strategic management, nonprofit strategy, agribusiness and corporate social responsibility.
He has provided consultancy to corporations, non-profit organizations and governments in Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, all Central American countries, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. He has been invited as a speaker at the main forums on sustainable development in Latin America, the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
