This is how we are perceived
Our main ally in the sea is MarViva and thanks to them we have become more effective in preventing environmental offences
Francisco Dall?Anese Ruiz
Attorney General of the Republic, Costa Rica
Working together with MarViva has not only helped me broaden my knowledge in the field of environmental law, but has also raised my awareness of the natural resources of our country. I have thus been able to get a much wider perspective of the environment of the country.
Joseth Espinoz González
Former Assistant District Attorney of Puntarenas, Costa Rica
In my opinion, MarViva has opened in each member of the community a window to reflect on our commitment to nature. MarViva is an organisation capable of envisioning the problem and tackling it by offering support, follow-up and motivation to move forward.
Danislao Hidalgo,
Schoolteacher in the Bahía Honda community, Panama
Cooperation between non-governmental organisations and government bodies in the protection of coastal and marine resources is not only desirable but feasible.
MarViva has become an essential component in the control operations carried out by the National Coastguard Service in the national waters of the Pacific Ocean, and is an invaluable partner for our policing unit.
Carlos Alvarado Valverde
Former Head of the National Coastguard Service, Costa Rica
For UNESCO it is paramount that civil society is committed and involved in the conservation of World Heritage Sites. The work carried out by MarViva in the national parks of Cocos Island and Coiba is an excellent example of this.
Marc Patry
Programme specialist
UNESCO World Heritage Centre
In Costa Rica we have the good fortune of being able to count on MarViva, a non-governmental organisation that watches over the protection of our marine ecosystem. Costa Rica possesses a rich biodiversity which is not only found on dry land, but also in an area that accounts for most of our country: our territorial waters.
Frankling Chang, Astronaut
For the last five years, the MarViva boats have been carrying out an extraordinary task for Costa Ricans in the Osa Conservation Area and on Cocos Island. Since 2006, MarViva has lent support to about 3,000 hours of patrol work together with our coastguard service and other authorities over more than 19,000 miles of our seas.
Jorge Rodríguez, Deputy Minister for the Environment, Costa Rica
I am an ordinary Panamanian like any other. I grew up close to the sea and since I was a child I have been in contact with all type of marine species and I know about the damage caused by indiscriminate fishing because I?ve seen it first hand. I want to congratulate you on the work you are carrying out in favour of conservation of marine resources and life. I have not got the financial means to support you but I want you to know hat I am morally by your side. And that I have a pair of hands and some intelligence which I gladly offer to you for whatever may be necessary.
Roberto García, Panamanian citizen
